What a difference it makes when someone performs a kind act to you with no strings attached. Random and intentional acts of compassion while traveling can make a world of difference and help make traveling a more enriching experience. Here are 16 intentional ways to show kindness to others and ourselves while traveling:
Intention #1: Hold the door open for another person.
Intention #2: Genuinely smile at someone; all people and cultures understand a sincere smile.
Intention #3: Indulge in an experience you’ve always wanted to do such as dining at a 5-star restaurant.
Intention #4: Provide an honest review of a hotel, restaurant or other business services you utilize while traveling.
Intention #5: Believe in your dreams and write an action plan to make them reality.
Intention #6: Take a picture for someone.
Intention #7: Learn people’s names.
Intention #8: Clean up after yourself.
Intention #9: Think before you speak; practice empathy by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and consider if what you want to say will be helpful and beneficial to the person.
Intention #10: Learn a few foreign words before traveling to your destination such as hello, please and thank you.
Intention #11: Sincerely compliment or give a thank you note to an airport staff member.
Intention #12: Leave a tip for someone who helps you.
Intention #13: Take time to appreciate the sun rising and setting.
Intention #14: Remember your loved ones back home by emailing or mailing a post card.
Intention #15: Visit a place you’ve never been and learn as much as possible to expand your horizons.
