To stay clean, ancient Egyptians used a paste made of clay or ash and combined it with olive oil to cleanse their body and nourish their skin. Other mixtures used include animal and vegetable oils with alkaline salts as well as medical papyrus.

Wigs and extensions were commonly used in ancient Egypt

To protect against hot temperatures, people wore hats, wigs and extensions on their heads. To enhance their appearance, henna was used as hair dye and adornments included jewelry, beads and flowers. Almond oil was applied to hair to keep it soft.
