Happy Bisexual Day! This day started being celebrated throughout the world on September 23, 1999 and has been recognized every year on this day.


As a bisexual, cisgender woman, I'm proud to celebrate this day of love and acceptance with some travel tips for my fellow community:

Bisexual Visibility Day Facts


According to The Trevor Project, bisexuality is a sexual orientation people identify as forming attraction and/or relationships to more than 1 gender.


This special day was started by 3 bisexual activists: Wendy Curry, Michael Page and Gigi Raven Wilbur.


When first celebrated in 1999, it was marked in the USA, South Africa, UK, Japan and Canada, since then it has grown to over 30 countries!


In 2024, it is anticipated there will be over 250 events throughout the world ranging from exhibitions, discussions, movie screenings, picnics and socials!

Bisexual Travel Truths & Tips


Some challenges bisexual travelers can experience include stereotypes about indecisiveness or experimenting from within and outside the LGBBTQ+ community.


In LGBTQ travel marketing and representation, bisexuality is commonly invisible on a global scale.


While traveling alone, some bisexual people hide their sexuality to ensure safety.


A suggestion is to connect with community such as searching online platforms such as LGBTQIA+ Facebook groups, Meetup or Reddit.


Support Bisexual and LGBTQIA+ welcoming shops and neighborhoods during your travels.


Research and plan a holiday around a Pride event such as Nonbinary Awareness Week the week of July 14 or LGBTQ History Month in October.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil: Celebrate the Rio Carnaval from the 28th of February to 8th of March 2025


Soho, London: A trendy neighborhood in London, Soho is well known for its LGBTQ activities such as shops, restaurants, bars, theatre and lively attractions


Taipei, Taiwan: The first place in Asia to legalize same sex marriage, Taipei holds their annual Pride event in October.


Paris, France: In the "City of Lights" you'll find Le Marais, a vibrant district welcoming to LGBTQIA+ as well as thriving Jewish neighborhood.
